Buy Prom Dress

Your mission: a magnificent prom dress that will make you feel like the belle. It may be take some searching.

Instruction:

Begin searching fashion magazines and local stores at least four months prior to the prom.
Try on every dress that you see in stores to determine what is in style this year, and to gauge your size.
Choose a basic style and color scheme that you like.
Ask dress boutiques if they carry catalogs for dresses that are not in stock, but that can be ordered direct from the designer.
Consider hiring a seamstress to create a one-of-a-kind gown for you. Purchase the fabric yourself, then work with the seamstress to develop the perfect design for your body type.
Look online. A growing number of Web sites feature virtual fitting rooms, and a seemingly endless supply of dresses and gowns, most of which can be shipped straight to your front door.

Prom dress tips:

Not the mall! by laura H.
Do not buy your dress at a mall or a department store if you don't want every other girl to have the same dress as you! Buy it at a consignment shop or at a vintage shop to ensure originality. You can also borrow someone else's dress from a couple of years ago because no one will have that dress!

Get it online
I live in a small town where there is only one formal store and Macy's. There's always stories of girls showing up in the same dresses. Last year I got my dress at http://www.illuna-fashion.com and it was totally different then anyone else's. Plus it was a really good price.

Buy Prom Dresses Online Becca
I go to a site called www.cbslimited.com. I have been searching around for about a month, and I keep ending up at their site. They must have double the amount of dresses of any other site! Check it out. :-)

Off-season dresses Christina
Always buy your dress off-season! It's ludicrous to spend $300 on a dress that was selling for $50 a month ago. They cycle these things through every season, trust me. I've had my eye on the same dress for almost four years; they never have it in my size when they "retire" it!

Another great place to look is in the evening wear department of an upscale department store. You won't see the same styles they have in the teen area. These are more "grown up" and definitely unique (and, also, in my experience, more comfortable. There are no size 0's with boning). Trust me, no one else will think of it. Bridal shops and departments also always have a bridesmaid clearance rack; sometimes you can find some great stuff.
